Sounds encouraging... been a false dawns with young players down the years. I can remember Ron Greenwood describing Johnny Ayris as a "wonder boy" and look where he ended up, playing against no marks like me in the Essex leagues :-)
Ade Coker was another, Stuart Slater. At least, Freddy Sears has recovered to become a decent Championship player.

He was very good at taking care of the ball, didn't give it away.
Was it him who nutmegged a player towards the end of the first half... I was upper tier last night so difficult to make out who's who!
He did make a great run and would have been through on goal had he received a simple pass from the man on the ball, who instead chose the wrong pass.

Oxford has (by all accounts) been let down by his attitude. Luckily he has time to sort this issue out.
Rice would appear to have an excellent attitude... as Bilic says, an old man's head on a teenage body!
Having given him that praise I would like to see him play on Saturday ahead of either Kouyate and Noble.

West Ham fans love seeing young players given their chance in the first team and, on Tuesday night, they were able to enjoy watching four teenagers do their thing in Claret and Blue.
Declan Rice and Sead Haksabanovic started and both impressed their manager, with the Montengro international making his senior debut, while Domingos Quina and Nathan Holland also caught the eye as second-half substitutes.
“Declan Rice is only young on paper, but he has a brain and concentration as if he was 30 years old,” said the manager. “He’s thinking about the game, he’s thinking about his positioning and everything. He is totally in the game, which is putting him in a position that he has everything to become a really, really good player.

Yeah, he looked decent. Obviously the level of opposition wasn't that high but he didn't struggle physically, and used the ball well.
